FISHING REPORT: Captain Al (NY) 4/3

Capt Al

Capt. AL- Point Lookout, NY

April 2:

Tough conditions for Blackfishing this morning with gusty northwest winds and a very strong current. We picked a few Codfish this morning on the reef but only a couple of blackfish bit. As the winds slowly diminished, we ventured further offshore and found better Codfishing but no tog.

The winds and seas layed down down nicely this afternoon and it was flat calm by the time we got back in. Tomorrows weather looks good and hopefully the Blackfish bite will improve.

We are now sailing every day from 7am till 4pm fishing for Blackfish and Codfish.

April 3:

The Blackfish bite was better today with some keepers and a good number of shorts. All the action was on clams as is normal for this time of year. We do have crabs a on board for those who want to try. We picked a few Codfish and a couple of Ling as well. Dogfish are around but they haven’t been a problem.

We will be sailing every day from here on in from 7am to 4pm.

April 4

We had a good day with the Codfish today! We had to move around a lot due to the dogfish being unruly at times, we caught cod everywhere we went. A few blackfish and Ling were boated as well. We will be sailing again tomorrow with a lite crowd, so there’s plenty of room for anyone interested.

We are now sailing every day from 7am till 4pm fishing for everything allowed by law. Reservations can be made by texting me at 516-361-9275.
