FISHING REPORT: Gambler (Pt Pleasant Beach, NJ) 11/27
Gambler’s striped bass fishing has been great all week. We are catching a lot more of the sizes that our fishermen can take home –both slot and bonus fish.
The fishing has been really good both up and down the coast. Gambler has been aiming at the birds working the surface over flurries of bait getting inhaled by bass. Often, we don’t need to get right on top of the working gulls before we read a big pile of bass and bait on the machines.
Stripers are chasing peanut bunker, sand-eels, rainfish, snapper blues and butterfish. So, shads, A-47s with tail, croc spoons and surface poppers are all catching fish –as long as they are worked correctly.
We are a no-go for tomorrow or Tuesday –but will resume everyday except Mondays through December –or until the fish exit the stage.
OFFSHORE SEABASS REPORT FROM 11/20
A little late getting this report out –Gambler was offshore sea bass fishing last Monday. The weather was nice. The fishing was not as good as hoped for. Each wreck that we stopped on started with double and triple-headers –mixed sizes up to jumbos, but the action on each spot was short lived. We would get an exciting amount of sea bass to start but after about 30mins, it would turn into a slow pick. I believe the water was too warm and the major migration has not started.
We were supposed to go tonight but cancelled due to high winds and seas.
Weather permitting, Gambler will be offshore sea bass fishing through December on Mondays. As the temps drop, the fishing out there should continue to get more productive.
There is still plenty of room on most of these trips, which will run through December, leaving late Sunday nights and returning Monday nights.
