Surprisingly Hot Inshore Cod Bite in RI & MA The inshore codfish action just keeps getting better across southern New England, most of them are being caught as a welcome bycatch while togging—but some anglers are now targeting them on jigs. Stripers are still in play throughout our coverage area, fish to 38 inches were reported as far north as Newburyport and blitzes have been common throughout Buzzards Bay, Rhode Island and Long Island Sound. Freshwater fishing is also firing up with largemouths to 7 pounds reported from Cape Cod, salmon stocking underway in Rhode Island and trout catches on fire throughout the region.
