FISHING REPORT: Super Current(Snug Harbor, RI) 2/10
OFFSHORE NORTHERN TILE REPORT
Capt. Scott & Capt. Chris extremely happy to report a fantastic trip to the Nothern Canyon which departed 9 pm Friday evening. The weather forecast for offshore fishing in February was terrific! We arrived at our first location around 5:30 am and was still slightly dark when we began our prospecting. It did not take long before we “STRUCK GOLD” with the GOLDEN TILE we were in search of. Some drifts were 3 miles long with the rods consistently bent and the boat was buzzing with electric reels doing their work. We fished as shallow as 425 ft to as deep as 825 feet.
All baits provided lots of action with squid, salmon, sardines, and bluefish doing great damage! For those who are thinking about doing trips like this I often get asked, “What is it like?” and it can best be described as a perfect mix between fluke & blackfishing in combo….we drift with two hook rigs and the bites are easily recognizable even in the deep water!
Some highlights and there are many as the limits were the norm: great meeting Marc and his buddies for an awesome catch and taking home the pool. Keller, Lex & Joe from Long Island rocked it like usually as they are not new to the game, Team 5 Star:
Joe M., Scotty, Jo Jo & Chris all had their limits with several large fish, Alex from RI offshore big game fishing loaded up on the tile with an added Monkfish! Mike V., Michael, & Rob S. also had easy limits. 9 year old Murphy also gad several nice GOLDENS! Jessie S & his crew annihilated the fish as it was drop and stick fishing for Jessie who had both quantity and quailty! Our good friend FLOCKO from the Bronx was on the fish all day & Stephem M from Westchester. Alex B. from Manhattan switched up hand crank / electric and got the job done and even helped the crew when things got super busy! We were lucky to have such a nice, hardworking crew of anglers that were awesome to fish with and an amazing team which made for an OUTSTANDING TRIP! Mates Sam & Todd did an exceptional job hoping around the boat all day providing quailty service.
