Thur July 13- 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Dave reports decent action this afternoon on the Viking Starlite. We saw a lot of fish coming up around the boat this afternoon, but unfortunately most of them were on the small side, with more throwbacks than anything. We did manage to find 3-4 keeper Fluke and some nice sized SeaBass fishing just south of the Radar Tower, but the conditions were not in our favor today. The first place pool winner today went to Kim Price from Knoxville, Tennessee with a 5 lb Fluke. The second place pool winner went to Erin Lynch from Staten Island, NY with a 3 lb SeaBass.
*a Fluke caught aboard the Viking Starlite today on a private charter*
Thurs July 13 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a difficult day of fishing today on the Viking Star. Conditions never seemed to be right today with wind fighting against tide. We had a brief moment that we anchored up and fell into better conditions and the fishing was very well, where we got the bulk of our fish for the day. Porgies were medium to large in size, nothing really on the jumbo size. We did try to work our way offshore and look for SeaBass, but only fell into a small pool of fish with very few keepers and some more medium sized Porgies. The first place pool winner today was Arnold Petties from Brooklyn, NY with a 2 3/4 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner today went Anthony DeFransesco with a 4 lb Blue fish. We will be sailing again tomorrow (Friday, July 14th) on our 5 am Montauk Lighthouse Porgies & SeaBass.
Wed July 12- 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Dave G reports a slow afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Starlite. We started out the strong on our first drift, but the bite seemed to significantly die out as the afternoon carried on. We caught a few keeper fluke amongst the throwbacks as well as some sea bass, and some porgies. The pool winner was Anthony DeFrancesco with a 3lb Fluke.
