The full moon tide was still running hard, but we definitely had better fishing. We had nice sized Porgies and there were Sea Bass up to 4 lbs. We also had some Bluefish and Mackerel. The first place pool winner was Chiqui Hilario from Philadelphia, PA with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Kenny Morales from St. Albans, Queens with a 4 lb Sea Bass. The trip was off to a great start anchored near the lighthouse with a great picking of mix-sized porgies, with a handful of nice large ones. Later, the trip headed towards Block Island, where they caught several nice-sized sea bass. Porgy fishing was excellent by the lighthouse. We started out on the anchor and had mostly nice size fish. We also did some drifting. There were some Sea Bass, but they were on the smaller size. Sea Bass fishing was lively by Block Island. There were a lot of smaller fish, but everyone managed a few keepers. Some Mackerel were also in the mix. This morning started excellent with double header Porgies flying over the rail. The size wasn't quite what its been, with a lot of throwbacks and smaller sized keepers, mostly mediums. As the day carried on the bite dropped to a very slow pick, but that morning shot made our day. The pool winner today went to Niguel Crawford from Virginia with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy.
