Hello, I am Capt. David Magness owner/operator of Cat’n Aroun’ Guide Service. I am insured and operate under a US Coast Guard License with First Aid/CPR training for your safety. I have been married for 35 years and have 2 grown children.
I Grew up fishing Grenada Lake and the Mississippi River. This background has led me down the path of trophy and tournament catfishing.
I fish the Mississippi River from North of Memphis, TN to Vicksburg, MS. I mainly focus on a stretch of river from Memphis to Helena, AR. This region of river covers about 100 river miles. I also fish Corp of Engineers Lakes of North Mississippi, including Arkabutla, Sardis, Enid, and Grenada.
Do you guarantee to catch fish?
We are dealing with Mother Nature, river conditions, and weather. I cannot guarantee fish, but will work hard, using my knowledge, experience, and high level equipment to have a successful trip.
What do you furnish?
Boat, Bait, Rod/Reels, Tackle, PFD’s (personal flotation device) for adults and children 12 years and up.
What do I need to bring?
PFD’s for children under 12, food/drinks, clothing suitable for weather and time of year, sun screen, cap/hat, and license for section of river we will be fishing.
What type of boat and equipment do you use?
We will fish from a 26′ SeaArk Pro Guide powered with a 250HP Suzuki Engine. The Sea Ark has a full enclosure, if needed. We run Humminbird Electronics, and Minn Kota Trolling Motor. We will use BnM Rods with Shimano and Okuma Reels, and super sharp Daiichi Hooks.
What bait will we use?
Skipjack Herring, Shad, Asian carp
Can we keep fish?
Yes, I prefer to keep fish 12# and under and CPR (catch, photograph, release) the larger fish.
