Yellow Perch are one of the most popular freshwater fish to catch for novices and seasoned anglers alike and they are also one of the finest tasting freshwater fish. This is a hearty species that can be caught in the middle of the summer heat or through the thick winter ice, making them even more popular for fisherman who get the itch to break cabin fever during the colder months of the year. Perch tend to like rock or weed beds and most typically travel in large schools. Keep this in mind because when you find one, there are usually more making them easy to catch, though during certain times of the year and in certain waters & conditions they may be a bit scattered over a larger area of bottom. For those that prefer bait fishing, suggested for monster perch, “T-Turn” type rigs dressed with live bait such as your standard earthworms, minnows, and grubs do the trick.
